Supporting Vulnerable Populations through Performance Auditing:
Considerations, Approaches, and Lessons Learned

This session will provide an overview of how three audit offices of different sizes and levels of government (federal, provincial, county) approach audits on topics affecting vulnerable populations. Presenters will describe recent audits of services provided to people in vulnerable situations. Presenters will also talk about considerations for engaging with vulnerable populations during the audit and supporting teams who are reviewing these difficult topic areas. A large part of the session will be devoted to structured and unstructured Q and A. Throughout this panel discussion, attendees
will be able to:

  • Describe topics and approaches for audits that affect vulnerable populations;
  • Identify opportunities and considerations for engaging with people in vulnerable situations; and
  • Learn techniques for supporting teams that are overseeing such audits.

Registration

The Audit Forums are offering these inaugural event to the community for no charge. Registration is on a first-come-first served basis. The platform has a limit of 1000 attendees. More information will be posted about the registration process in early August.

Continuing Professional Education Policy

Each webinar event is designed to provide 2 CPE credits for full attendance. Auditors attending all events in the 2020 webinar series may earn 10 CPE credits. There are no prerequisites and no advanced preparation required.  The webinars are designed with the intention of adhering to the 2018 revision of the Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards (GAGAS) (GAO 18-568G).  Ultimate responsibility for determining whether CPEs qualify for credit rests with the individual or employing organizations.
